Saubermacher gives a gift for the future: substantial donation for children's home in Zagreb

Saubermacher has been operating successfully in Croatia for over three years as a strong waste disposal and recycling partner. In addition, the company is making a contribution to society by supporting the ‘Centar za djece Zagreb’, a children's home for particularly vulnerable children, with a substantial donation. The donation will be used to improve local education and care services. Saubermacher founder Hans Roth presented the donation to director Dragana Miletić during a visit. In line with its philosophy, Saubermacher has been committed to a better future for children and young people for many years.

Around 250 children and young people aged between 0 and 21 are currently being cared for at the ‘Center za djecu Zagreb’. Many of them are orphans or come from families that cannot provide adequate parental care. 175 employees, including 130 specialists, currently care for those in need of protection. Psychological counselling, schooling and social integration programmes are part of the services offered. The ‘Centar za djece Zagreb’ also offers a home to pregnant women and mothers in difficult life situations. Saubermacher is now supporting the expansion of care and therapy facilities with a substantial donation.

International social and ecological commitment

The initiative is one of many international social and ecological projects. Most recently, Saubermacher also supported the annual ‘spring cleaning’ in North Macedonia, during which around 12 tonnes of waste were collected free of charge in the Šar Planina National Park and disposed of properly. In addition, the company is increasingly working in kindergartens and schools to raise awareness of the circular economy.

Jasna Ćurković Kelava, Director of the Children’s Centre in Zagreb: “This donation is a sign of genuine solidarity that transcends national borders. On behalf of the children and on my own behalf, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks. With these funds, we can plan additional activities to enrich the lives of the children in the facility, such as leisure activities, trips, summer holidays, the purchase of new equipment and similar things.‘

Hans Roth, founder of Saubermacher: ’Children are our future. We see it as our social responsibility to support young people who have to grow up without family support. The team at the Centre za djece Zagreb has been doing great work here for decades – this work deserves our highest recognition and support.”
